"Where Is God When You Need Him The Most?"

Have you ever accused The Lord of being absent or unconcerned about your stressful situation and, in great distress, cried out, "My Lord, my Lord, where are you?"

In Mark 4:38 NIV, His disciples experienced this in the midst of a severe storm as Jesus was asleep within the boat during that crisis. Panic stricken, they awoke Him as they cried out in sheer agony, "Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?"

Their question seemed like a harsh statement, as if they were scolding Him for sleeping during their crisis. As Christ slept, they believed that he was unconcerned about their dangerous situation and inattentive of their prayers. But, even though His eyes were closed and He slept soundly, His heart was open and He had not lost his power.

The ship that Christ had once made his pulpit is now in danger of sinking from the severity of the storm. Their ship became full of water and the other little ships that followed them also shared in the distress and danger.

The great noise of the wind and the raging sea was so threatening and terrifying beyond any measure to them, that they became paralyzed with fear which further resulted in their becoming pessimistic, doubtful, cynical and critical.

Then, in Mark 4:39, "He arose and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, ‘Peace, be still.’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm."

The storms of life always come to make us forget about Christ, His love for us, His sacrifice on the cross, God’s resurrection power, His faithfulness to His Word and His amazing grace.

Even though there may arise causes for alarm, you should never allow fear from any adverse circumstance, negative situation or painful condition affect you to such a degree to make you forget about His love towards you. On the contrary, it has been said that, "The teacher is most quiet during your test so that you may discover what you have learned."

"Peace" is never the absence of suffering or adversity. Peace is not the cessation of things arising against you. Peace is taking everything to The Lord and believing He will handle it for His glory and your best.

Peace describes or defines our intimate relationship with God through Christ as we are led by The Holy Spirit.

One of the greatest promises can be found in Hebrews 13:5, where He said, "I will never leave you, and I will never forsake you."

Though we may sometimes be tossed like that ship on the rough sea, remember that Christ is on board and you cannot sink. That is His promise to you on today.
